How to join?

Students from all Schools and majors are invited to apply!

The Leadership Development Institute  (LDI) uniquely develops selected students to become global leaders by adapting the best American leadership development research and practices to the needs of Moroccan students and Moroccan society. The LDI is the first such program in Morocco, one of few in the Middle East North Africa (MENA) region, and one of very few in the developing world. From its roots, the LDI is a co-curricular program teaching leadership skills through practical experience and service. The Institute offers a co-curricular certificate program in leadership for high-initiative, high-achieving Al Akhawayn University (AUI) students.

Students who complete both semesters of this program will receive a certificate and a letter for their file. Student membership is limited to 30 students  for the academic year. Student selection will be based on academic standing,  letter of motivation and interview.


1. Prepare your application package

Provide a letter (of motivation) that describes your involvement in student organizations, describes your service projects, or articulates why developing as a leader is important to you.


Send  your CV with your most relevant education and experience.

2. Submit your application 

Submit all application materials through the application platform:

1. Online applications will be received from May 1st until May 23rd 2020


2. Interviews will take place from May 24th to May 31st 2020


3. The final announcement of admitted students will be made by June 1st 2020.
